Victor Osimhen scored twice to inspire Galatasaray to a thrilling 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Fenerbahçe in the Istanbul derby at RAMS Park on Monday night.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring for the hosts in the 29th minute with a superb finish from inside the box after being set up by Barış Alper Yılmaz.

Osimhen doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 44th minute, heading home from Davinson Sánchez’s effort to give the Yellow and Reds a comfortable lead at the break.

The 27-year-old has now recorded six goals and three assists in six league appearances for Galatasaray this season, underlining his impressive form in front of goal.

He was replaced by Wilfried Singo in the 88th minute as Galatasaray sought to see out the contest.

Fenerbahçe pulled one back through İrfan Can Kahveci in the 62nd minute, setting up a tense finish, but the hosts held on to secure all three points.

The victory sees Galatasaray return to the top of the league table, while Fenerbahçe remain in fifth place.
