ELAN to explore changing economic landscape

The 24th National Lease Conference of the Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria Ltd/Gte will focus on how businesses can sustain growth, manage financial pressures and access productive assets amid changing economic conditions.

The conference, which is scheduled for 12 November, 2026, in Lagos, has the theme ‘Equipment Leasing in Nigeria: Maintaining Balance in a Changing Economy.’

According to the conference organiser in a release on Friday, it will examine how businesses can sustain growth, manage financial pressures and access productive assets amid changing economic conditions.

NALCON is a major annual gathering of stakeholders in Nigeria’s leasing industry, providing a platform to discuss developments affecting the sector, build business relationships and explore investment opportunities.

“This year’s conference comes at a time when businesses across different sectors continue to navigate changing market conditions, rising operating costs, financing constraints, foreign exchange pressures, and the need to improve productivity,” said the Chairman of ELAN’s Board of Directors, Mrs Ngozi  Ehigiamusoe.

“The conference is intended to examine the impact of Nigeria’s changing economic landscape on the leasing industry and to highlight strategies for maintaining business resilience that will drive sustainable growth and development. It is also expected to facilitate business networking and investment,” she noted.

Equipment leasing enables businesses to access productive assets without committing substantial capital to outright purchases. By spreading payments over an agreed period, it helps enterprises preserve cash flow for other operational needs while expanding or modernising their businesses.

The ELAN boss explained that its applications range from manufacturing machinery and transport vehicles to agricultural equipment, medical devices, construction machinery and technology infrastructure. For manufacturers, access to modern machinery can improve output and product quality; for farmers, mechanisation can increase productivity; and for logistics and healthcare operators, reliable equipment is essential to service delivery.

“As Nigeria seeks to strengthen domestic production and industrial capacity, leasing offers a practical way to bridge the gap between the equipment businesses need and the funds available to acquire it. Appropriately structured lease arrangements can align rental payments with cash flow capacity and support investment in more efficient technology,” Ehigiamusoe added.
