Two men were found dead with gunshot wounds on Moshe Dayan Road in Tel Aviv on Monday morning, after one allegedly shot the other dead and then took his own life, according to the initial investigation.

The two were brothers, one in his 50s and the other in his 70s. They were found near a senior citizens’ center and the entrance to a bank branch. A handgun was located near the scene.

Magen David Adom (MDA) teams called to the scene found the two unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and pronounced them dead at the scene.

Residents call emergency services, initially fearing terror attack

A report of two people injured at the location was received at 9:32 a.m. at MDA’s 101 emergency call center in the Dan region. Medics and paramedics dispatched to the scene found the two lying in the street, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. After conducting medical examinations, they were forced to pronounce them dead at the scene.

“I heard gunshots under the building. At first I locked the windows; I thought maybe it was a terror attack, maybe there’s a terrorist downstairs, and suddenly it was quiet and full of ambulances. I ran downstairs to understand what happened, and suddenly I saw two men lying dead on the sidewalk. There’s nothing as scary as that, to see such a difficult sight first thing in the morning. My whole body is still shaking; I can’t believe it.”

“We arrived at the scene quickly and saw two men lying in the street, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with penetrating wounds on their bodies," MDA motorcycle unit emergency medical technician Meir Grossman said. "We performed medical examinations and were forced to pronounce their deaths at the scene.”

Police said a report was received at the 100 emergency hotline about a shooting incident on Moshe Dayan Street in Tel Aviv, during which two people were shot and killed.

Officers from the South Tel Aviv station and police investigators arrived at the scene, and police opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is still ongoing as of press time.
