Ann Droid star Diane Morgan's hit BBC show finally confirms return date – and it's very soon

If you wanted more from Diane Morgan following the success of Ann Droid, then you're in luck, as she's reprising her role as Philomena Cunk for a brand-new series about the history of cinema.
Cunk on Cinema sees the deadpan cultural commentator offer her views on the artistic medium, starting from the silent era and passing through the New Hollywood age all the way up to the present - and the future.
The three-part series will premiere on Thursday 12 November, with the first episode airing at 10pm on BBC Two. If you can't wait longer for the remaining two parts, then they will all be available to stream via BBC iPlayer on the same day.

The series sees Cunk interview a range of industry figures, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Kermode, Michael Bay, Mark Cousins, Daniel Pemberton and Seamus McGarvey being some of the involved stars.
The eagerly awaited mockumentary sees the "pioneering documentary-maker" examine the "world's love affair with movies", with the series billed as the interviewer's "most glamorous" one to date.
In asking "all of the hard-hitting questions", Cunk will "attempt to demystify it all while sitting in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking herself where did cinema come from? And why? What does it want? And why can’t it tell us?".
Cunk on Cinema has been co-written by Morgan and Charlie Brooker among a host of other contributors, with the pair also serving as executive producers. Al Campbell, meanwhile, is the director for all three parts.
Morgan first portrayed the iconic character in Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, before several spin-offs and specials aired on the BBC. In 2018, we got a five-part series called Cunk on Britain, while Cunk on Earth came four years later.

While we wait for Cunk on Cinema, Morgan's acclaimed sitcom Ann Droid - which she co-wrote with Sarah Kendall - will be coming back for more episodes as the BBC greenlit a second season in August.
Speaking about the renewal order, Morgan said: "The response to Ann Droid has been so incredible. We're all totally blown away. I'm really looking forward to not blinking, needing physio and hearing 'Cotton-Eyed Joe' on repeat.
Cunk on Cinema premieres on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on 12 November.
