Najib yet to receive conditional pardon letter for house arrest

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak has yet to receive the official letter on the conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his SRC International sentence under house arrest.

His lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said the legal team had also not received the letter setting out the terms of the pardon.

He claimed prison authorities had similarly yet to receive the document.

"Until today, this is the eighth day. It is strange.

"Once the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has made a decision under his prerogative, the most important person is Najib because he is the person serving the prison sentence and who will be placed under house arrest.

"But until today, he has not received the letter. We do not know why the letter is taking so long.

"The prison has not received it either," he told reporters after court proceedings here today.

Shafee said the delay was affecting the legal team's next course of action as it did not know the full conditions contained in the official document.
