Theo Von Sets New Netflix Special ‘I’m Doing Fine’ for October Release (EXCLUSIVE)

Theo Von is returning to Netflix with another stand-up comedy special.

The comic and podcaster’s new hour, “I’m Doing Fine,” will debut on the streamer on Oct. 20. It’s Von’s third special — and his first in five years. The hour will find the freewheeling Von dishing on his rural upbringing and acid-filled adventures, per the description.

In a clip from the special, Von riffs on his hometown, claiming there was a man who was “busted with a 30-pound bag of hamster bones on him.” In a bit of crowd work, Von quizzes an audience member about how many hamsters that entails. (Spoiler: about 2,000.)

It’s possible that the title of the special is a cheeky reference to headlines surrounding Von’s last Netflix taping, which was ultimately scrapped. Fans became worried about the comedian after he was seen on video at the taping talking about his mental health struggles; Von later reassured his audience on his podcast that he was OK.

“I’m Doing Fine” is directed by Kevin Morra, who executive produces alongside Von and Paul J. Morra. Swift River Productions is the production company. The special follows Von’s 2016 hour “No Offense” and 2021’s “Regular People,” both of which debuted on Netflix.

Von is the host of the wildly popular podcast “This Past Weekend,” where he has interviewed everyone from Joaquin Phoenix to Tucker Carlson to Bernie Sanders. Earlier this year, he starred alongside David Spade in the movie “Busboys,” which the two comedians wrote and self-financed.
