Buba Musa: Little-known name carrying PRP’s VP ticket

Translate

In Nigeria’s 2027 presidential contest, some running mates arrive with long political biographies. Others arrive first as names on an electoral form. Buba Musa belongs to the second category.

Musa is the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, running alongside former Cross River State governor Donald Duke. The ticket is officially part of the 2027 field, with Musa listed among the vice-presidential candidates published from the particulars submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

A name on the ticket, but little public biography

INEC-related reports list him simply as Buba Musa, the PRP vice-presidential candidate. The documentation exists within the electoral process, but Musa’s background is little known.

For a vice-presidential candidate, that creates an unusual starting point. Running mates can signal balance, geography or political reach.

The ticket places a nationally recognisable former governor alongside a running mate whose public political identity remains largely undefined.

Musa’s greatest political asset may ultimately be what the public does not yet know about him — provided the campaign can turn that uncertainty into discovery rather than suspicion.

For now, the documented facts are limited: he is Duke’s running mate and the PRP’s vice-presidential candidate for 2027.
