A Green activist who admitted she was 'naive' to oppose Hamas is now managing party discipline.

Halima Brewer was elected to sit on the party's disciplinary committee at the Greens' annual conference in Brighton last weekend.

She will investigate complaints against Green members in her new post and sit on a panel during judgment hearings.

But Ms Brewer was elected to the position while expressing support for Hamas, comparing Jewish Israelis to Nazis and claiming Israel does not exist on her social media, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Posting on her Facebook page, Ms Brewer writes: 'I used to oppose Hamas because I thought their strategy for freeing Palestine was counterproductive.

'I have dropped that naive view and now think the only thing Palestinians have left is violent resistance against the bigger terrorist – the biggest of all now – Israel.'

The words caption a photo Ms Brewer shares stating: 'Hamas are not the terrorists. They're the ones fighting against the terrorists'.

Ms Brewer shares another post reading: 'I'm sorry, but it's just plain hilarious that we're still expected to hate Hamas after spending two years being shown exactly what it was that Hamas has been fighting.'

It has been a torrid week for Zack Polanski, who stands accused of failing to grip rampant antisemitism within the party after members were able to pass a 'Zionism is Racism' motion at their annual conference

In other posts, Ms Brewer shares images of Israeli territory covered by a Palestinian flag, with one declaring: 'There is no country called "Israel". There is only Palestine, which is currently occupied by an army of international thieves and murderers.'

The revelations come as Zack Polanski will tomorrow learn his fate in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election for Sir Keir Starmer's old seat.

It has been a torrid week for the Green leader, who stands accused of failing to grip rampant antisemitism within the party after members were able to pass a 'Zionism is Racism' motion in Brighton.

The Greens were on Thursday reported to the equalities watchdog by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) over the policy, which effectively calls for the destruction of Israel.

Head of the CAA Gideon Falter said the motion was 'racist and unlawful because it discriminates against Jews'.

He added: 'Whether the Party believes itself to be above the law, or – by staggering incompetence – has not bothered to check the legal position, we will ensure that it faces the consequences of its actions.'

Andy Burnham on Thursday demanded the Green leadership annul the now-official party policy.

Speaking in Berlin, the Prime Minister described its passing as a 'completely wrong decision' and 'terrible judgment' from the party.

He said: 'In effect, ruling out a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, and for that reason it shouldn't be supported in any way, shape or form.

'I would call on the leadership of the Green Party to say that it will be reversed and it won't be Green Party policy.'

His Attorney General Ellie Reeves also wrote to the Green Mayor of Lewisham Liam Shrivastava in her capacity as a local MP ordering he reject the motion.

Referencing Ms Brewer's posts, a spokesperson for the Board of Deputies of British Jews said: 'These reported comments that endorse terrorism are deeply concerning and should be looked at by the police.

'They appear to be further evidence of what the antisemitic motion passed on Sunday shows the Greens have become: an extremist party with a platform of anti-Jewish racism.'

And shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: 'If true, these reports are another horrifying example of how deeply rooted antisemitism has become in the Green Party.

'That such views may be represented on the Party's disciplinary committee is beyond ridiculous.'

A Green Party spokesperson said: 'The posts highlighted do not reflect the views or the value of the Green Party.

'Where there are examples brought to our attention that do not fit in with the views of the Green Party, we look into them through our existing processes.'
