Strictly eliminates first celebrity after unanimous judges' vote

Strictly Come Dancing has aired the first elimination of the series, as celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton exited the competition. Chris and his professional partner Amy Dowden found themselves in this week's Bottom Two, alongside actor Jaime Winstone and pro Carlos Gu.
As there was no public vote during the first live show, the judges' scores were added together from both weeks, before being combined with last night's vote. The two lowest scoring couples then faced the dreaded dance-off in tonight's results show.

Each couple performed their Movie Week routine for a second time, before the judges decided who to save. First, Chris and Amy danced their Cha Cha to 'I'll Be Ready' from Baywatch, before Jaime and Carlos performed their Cha Cha to 'Oh, Pretty Woman' from Pretty Woman.
The judges' votes resulted in a unanimous decision with Motsi Mabuse, Head Judge Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke all choosing to save Jaime and Carlos.
Though the three votes sealed Chris and Amy's fate, Craig Revel Horwood shared that he would've also saved Jaime with his deciding vote.
Reflecting on his short-but-sweet journey in the ballroom, Chris described the experience as "a whirlwind of emotion".

"I'm 43 and I got good at doing what I did, which was hair, and to come into something like that, I felt so out of my comfort zone," he said. "I saw myself in a way I'd never seen myself and it challenged me in ways I never knew I could be challenged."
The star thanked everyone who was involved in the show, saying it was "amazing" to be a part of the "special" competition, which he "grew up watching".
"But the most important thing I think I'll take from this show is having a friend in Amy, because I genuinely love [her], and I'm so grateful that I met someone that has so much heart and passion," he concluded.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 10 October at 6.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
