Reese Witherspoon and Mediawan have teamed up to buy Hello Sunshine back from Candle Media.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement unites Hello Sunshine with Mediawan and its network that includes Chernin Entertainment and Plan B Entertainment.

The partnership aims to allow Hello Sunshine to explore a broader range of storytelling formats and distribution models, says Mediawan.

The stake sale of Hello Sunshine raises questions about the future of Candle Media, which counted Witherspoon’s company as one of its flagship properties. Candle’s biggest holding is Moonbug Entertainment, the kids content factory behind brands like CoComelon and Blippi.

Kevin Mayer, the Candle co-founder, has lamented that digital creators are the future of Hollywood, which could put pressure on some of Candle’s holdings, which have tended to rely on Hollywood veterans.
