A recap of the rules
The top eight from qualification start the final with a clean slate — their qualification scores do not carry over. The final consists of 10 five-shot rapid-fire series, using hit-or-miss scoring. A shot scoring 10.2 or higher counts as a hit, while 10.1 or lower is a miss.
Each five-shot series follows the rapid-fire sequence: athletes fire one shot during each 3-second target presentation. After the fourth series, the lowest-ranked athlete is eliminated, with one further elimination after each subsequent series until the final series decides the gold and silver medals.

Esha holds the world record in this event. A total of 43 hits was carded by her at the Munich World Cup in May this year. Additionally, she is the current World No. 1 in this event.

The second day of trap comes to an end. Kynan shoots two 22s to drop to 19th. Rizvi hits five more pigeons than day one. However, he is still languishing in the pits.

Rahi has scored 39 off her first series in rapid! She had dropped one point earlier, but what just happened? Has she missed her target entirely?
Our correspondent at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, Jonathan Selvaraj, pings that Rahi indeed did hit the frame of the target during the last shot of the first rapid series! This is unpardonable.

There are currently eight shooters sitting above Manu in the standings who have completed both the precision and rapid stages.
So, that’s an official confirmation that Manu has crashed out of the individual qualification, and we won’t see her in the final later in the day.

After two back-to-back 24s on the first day, Neeru gets another 24 today. She will remain at the top of the trap women’s standings.

A 47 and 49 from Esha to wrap up her rapid shooting. She is currently fifth on the dynamic standings, with two more relays to come about. Her final score is 580-22x, and there is like a 50-50 chance she makes it to the final. Make that 60-40 in her favour actually.
Amid all this Manu’s projected rank has dropped to ninth.

A 96 in the third and fourth series sees Esha drop below North Korea’s Kim Hyon Suk again. She needs two strong series to hand herself a stronger chance to feature in the individual final later today.

Manu up to eighth ⬆️
With a 99 off the final two five-shot series, Manu has jumped up to eighth. Her final score is 579-18x.
While that will keep her breathing for now, she is more or less set to exit the competition without playing the final.
Rostamiyan’s final score is 587-25x.

Manu starts off with a 97 in the first two rapid series, which sees her ranking improve from 16th to 13th. Haniyeh Rostamiyan, meanwhile, surpasses Yang Jiin to take the top spot on the leaderboard with a perfect 100 off the first two series.

In both the men’s and women’s sections of trap today, we will see the athletes fire 50 more shots.
The total score will be carried forward to Tuesday when the shooters will fire a final 25 shots before the finalists are decided.

Before we get to the action...
Here’s an attempt at simplifying the 25m pistol rapid rules for you.
This half consists of 30 shots spread across six five-shot series. For each shot, the target faces the athlete for three seconds, during which she must fire once, before turning away for seven seconds.
With electronic targets, the green light stays on for 3.1 seconds, with a valid shot allowed for 0.2 seconds after it goes off.
This stage is also worth a maximum of 300 points.

The shooting action is back, and today promises another packed day at the range — with a final and team battles in the mix!
Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rahi Sarnobat return at 6:10am IST for the rapid stage of the women’s 25m pistol individual qualification and team final, following yesterday’s precision stage.
Then comes the big one at 10:45am: the women’s 25m pistol individual final. If they make the cut, any of the Indian trio could be back on the firing line with a medal in sight.
The trap shooters return for Day 2 of qualification. Ahvar Rizvi, Kynan Chenai and Shapath Bharadwaj take on the men’s event at 6:30am, while Maneesha Keer, Aashima Ahlawat and Neeru Dhanda do the same in the women’s event.
One final, two trap events and some medal possibilities. Let’s get firing!
