Early bets for Week 5: Three games to target right away

Translate

The New Orleans Saints host the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football" (8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN) to close out Week 4, but we're already looking ahead to Week 5. Which games grabbed our analysts' attention?

The surprising Cleveland Browns, winners of three straight, will try to continue their hot start on the road against the New York Jets.

The New England Patriots, fresh off an upset of the Buffalo Bills, host the Las Vegas Raiders, who suffered their first defeat in Week 4.

The New York Giants knocked off the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 to move to 3-1 atop the NFC East and will travel to face the division rival Washington Commanders.

Who do we like? Matt Bowen, Pamela Maldonado and Seth Walder break down the games and share the bets they're backing before potential odds shifts later in the week.

Cleveland Browns +2.5 at New York Jets

Bowen: I expect head coach Todd Monken to lead with running back Quinshon Judkins. Downhill schemes, control tempo -- and take shots in the pass game. Cleveland can create explosive plays on the perimeter. Take the points here, as the Cleveland defense limits Geno Smith.

Last week: Cowboys +2.5 (Result: Cowboys 34, Texans 30)

Las Vegas Raiders at New England Patriots total UNDER 45

Maldonado: The Raiders are allowing 5.2 yards per carry, giving Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson a chance to move the chains and burn clock while taking pressure off Drake Maye. Vegas' run game hasn't offered much, putting more on Kirk Cousins against a Patriots defense that has been tough to throw against. Neither offense plays with much urgency between snaps, and New England struggles on third down.

Last week: Jaguars-Bengals OVER 51 (Result: Jaguars 22, Bengals 17)

Washington Commanders -3 vs. New York Giants

Walder: I'm just speculating, but I'm guessing there's a decent chance Jayden Daniels returns for Sunday's contest, especially after Marcus Mariota was injured and knocked out of Week 4's 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. If so, I imagine this early spread will look like a value.

I also think that we shouldn't put too much stock in the Commanders' offensive struggles in London, considering they had to put third-string QB Athan Kaliakmanis into action midgame. But there were some positive signs elsewhere: Washington recorded the highest pass block win rate and second-highest pass rush win rate in Week 4 entering "Sunday Night Football." Plus, no matter who starts at quarterback for Washington, we know they'll be going against a backup in Jameis Winston.
