Netanyahu announces he will propose laws to revoke citizenship of people 'smearing' IDF

A second law Netanyahu said he would present would multiply by 20 the amount it would be possible to sue people for over slandering the IDF.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to propose a law to revoke the Israeli citizenship of anyone "smearing" the IDF in a Wednesday post on X/Twitter.

Netanyahu also said he would introduce a second law that would increase the amount people could be sued for slandering the IDF by 20-fold.

"Their place is not with us," Netanyahu said. "We will hit them both in the citizenship and in their pockets."

He also said that he expects all Knesset factions who say they support the Zionist concept to back the two laws.

Among the examples he gave for harmful incidents of this nature were Democrats head Yair Golan saying in 2025 that “a sane country does not kill children as a hobby,” former Military Advocate General Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi releasing what he called a "fake video" showing IDF soldiers committing acts of rape, and the recent NAZA documentary by Israeli directors and journalists Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, which alleges that Israel’s military operations have resulted in systematic mass civilian casualties.

Miki Zohar thanks Netanyahu for pushing to revoke 'NAZA' creators' citizenship

Culture Minister Miki Zohar thanked Netanyahu for his announcement regarding the two documentary creators, saying it was "time to put an end to this disgrace."

On Monday, Zohar had said he would "act immediately" to revoke the citizenship of the two directors, saying that "The burning self-hatred of the creators, who are willing to harm their homeland to garner applause from antisemites worldwide, is inconceivable and constitutes an act of treason against the state."
