Lebo M campaigns for ActionSA, says ANC ‘destroyed’ South Africa

Lebohang Morake, or Lebo M, is using his platform to campaign for ActionSA and its leader, Herman Mashaba, ahead of next month’s local government elections. The Lion King composer has withdrawn his support for the ANC, whom he claims he has voted for since the first democratic election in 1994.

In videos posted on his X account, Lebo M officially endorsed ActionSA and its leader Herman Mashaba.

The 62-year-old spoke from Singapore, where he has joined fellow music composer Hans Zimmer on tour. He said: “I am voting and supporting ActionSA. I do hope ActionSA and ATM (African Transformation Movement) find a way to bridge the gap and release us from this treacherous last 32 years that have destroyed our country and put us in jeopardy”.

Lebo revealed he would no longer be voting for the ANC.

He continued: “Some of us have a role to play. Vote ActionSA. I’ve given over 20 years of my vote to these other brothers who have destroyed the country. I have a strong snse of anger against my government, I have earned the right to hold my government accountable. 

The Lion King musical genius accused the ANC of “abusing the rights” of South Africans who voted for them and “creating billionaires from corruption”.

HIGH-PROFILE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE POLITICAL PARTY

Lebo M’s public support of ActionSA comes shortly after The Ultimatum South Africa reality star Lehlohonolo “Nolla” Moseko announced that he would have joined the political party and would be running as ward councillor in his local district.

Other notable ActionSA supporters include:

• Moja Love presenter Xolani Khumalo, who is the mayoral candidate for the City of Ekurhuleni.

• Prominent lawyer Tumi Sole
