The Weekender

Friday night’s Celebrity Traitors episode has kicked up a storm on social media as fans debate who will be the next cast member to be murdered.

The latest instalment of the BBC reality show saw Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh banished after she received the majority of votes.

While revealing her true identity, Hesmondhalgh told her fellow contestants: “You know how much I have loved every second of this experience.

“It has been immense.

“Alas it may mean that I am not a phenomenal actor, I am indeed a faithful.”

Hannah Fry and her fellow Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster also selected four stars to put up for murder as part of a deadly game of Hide and Seek that was the cliffhanger at the end of the episode.

They chose Ross Kemp, Rob Beckett, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Romesh Ranganathan, who were told to hide in a castle crypt in the forest.

Host Claudia Winkleman told the players that they had a chance of survival by deciding among them who would have a special key which would prevent the traitors from being able to murder them.

They agreed to give the key to Pinnock, leaving fans to ponder who might be the next to go on social media.

Some fans have speculated that actor Ross Kemp will be spared, theorising that he may be useful if he can be framed as a traitor.

One fan posted: "Ross Kemp is probably pretty safe because they can use it to their advantage and create a Traitor narrative on him and frame him."

Other fans have speculated that one of buddies Romesh and Rob will be the next to go, with one saying: "I fear it's gonna be either Rob or Romesh and I'm gonna miss the dynamic duo together."

Another fan supported this theory, posting: "I think it'll be either Rob or Romesh so they can also create a bit of heat on the other!"

Meanwhile fans are convinced the Traitors will choose to murder Miranda Hart at the next opportunity, after the comedian told fellow contestants she is convinced Hannah is a traitor.

One wrote: “Miranda is getting MURDERED next week on Celebrity Traitors UK. She’s the only one pushing HARD to get Hannah out. The problem is, I don’t see the Faithfuls going after Hannah next. They’ll just brush it off, move on, and start suspecting someone else.”

The third episode of Celebrity Traitors had a peak audience of 10.3 million people, making it one of the BBC’s most popular shows.

The Celebrity Traitors returns on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
