A 26-year-old social media feminist, Folakemi Martins, has alleged that her life is in danger after a public dispute with a gym instructor, Dennis Emmanuel, over their relationship.
Martins alleged that Emmanuel published her two telephone numbers online, after which she began receiving threatening calls and messages from people accusing her of having an affair with a married man.
Speaking with Saturday PUNCH, Martins said she had been unable to leave her home since the controversy erupted online, adding that members of her family had also received threats.
“I can barely sleep at night. My phones have to be on DND because he doxxed my two numbers for bullying.
“Different numbers are calling and texting me day and night to threaten me to leave a married man alone and harm me, when I was never after him and his family,” she said.
The controversy followed a post by Emmanuel on X, in which he accused Martins of harassment, stalking and attempts to damage his reputation and marriage.
Emmanuel, who acknowledged having a sexual relationship with Martins, claimed the affair began on May 9, 2026, after he told her that he was married and was looking for a “side chick.”
But Martins denied knowing that Emmanuel was married when they met, saying they connected through a dating application where he allegedly presented himself as seeking a “long-term relationship” and a “life partner.”
She said she ended the relationship in August after becoming suspicious that Emmanuel was involved with another woman.

Martins alleged that the threats began shortly after Emmanuel made his claims publicly and shared her telephone numbers.
“The threats started coming after Dennis Emmanuel went public about this and posted my phone number, so it’s definitely from Dennis Emmanuel,” she alleged.
She said the situation had also affected her family.
“This has caused me and my family a lot of damage. People are calling and texting my family regarding this situation as well.
“I can’t step outside since Thursday when he did all this online. I’m scared for my life because a lot of numbers he sent are threatening me, and my life is practically in danger right now,” she said.
Martins disclosed that she had commenced legal action against Emmanuel, alleging defamation and endangerment.
“I’m suing him for damaging my reputation and exposing me to danger. I want him to clear my name the same way he damaged it all over social media and pay heavily for the damage to my mental health,” she said.
She added that her lawyers would determine the damages being sought, including expenses for therapy.
Efforts to reach Emmanuel for his reaction were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to his telephone line were unanswered as of press time.
