Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has praised the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia, and regional governments for establishing Regional Financial Access Acceleration Teams (TPAKD) across Indonesia to improve public welfare.

He expressed his appreciation at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting on TPAKD in Gunung Putri, West Java, on Thursday, as observed in a broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

Prabowo said he took pride in the establishment of such teams in all provinces, districts, and cities across Indonesia by the end of 2024.

He described the initiative as a major achievement, saying it had facilitated the distribution of Rp53 trillion (around US$3 billion) in productive financing to around two million beneficiaries nationwide.

"Our plan or target for the coming years is to distribute Rp400 trillion (around US$22 billion) to farmers, fishers, and people living in villages," he said, expressing confidence in the program's implementation.

The president explained that the large-scale financing program is expected to reach 28 million low-income families in urban areas and underserved regions across the country.

To achieve this goal, Prabowo said the government would strengthen oversight of natural resource management to prevent certain parties from monopolizing the sector.

He also said he had instructed Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia to take firm action against mining companies that had remained inactive for more than two years, including by revoking their permits.

Prabowo also highlighted a target of shutting down around 700 state-owned enterprises that are unprofitable or have falsified their financial reports by December 2026.

"All our potential is mustered to achieve our goal, which is delivering prosperity to the people. I ran for presidency in the hopes of seeing our people prosperous," he said.

He also announced the establishment of the National Financial Welfare Council at the end of the meeting.
