Iwobi Equals Salah’s Premier League Milestone In Fulham’s Win At Coventry City
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has drawn level with Mohamed Salah as the joint-second most capped African player in Premier League history.
Iwobi reached the landmark during Fulham’s 1-0 win over Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday.
It was Iwobi’s 328th Premier League appearance — the same tally as Liverpool forward Salah. Only former Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool defender Kolo Toure, with 353 appearances, is ahead of them on the all-time African list.
His 328 appearances are made up of 100 for Arsenal, 123 for Everton and 104 for Fulham, making him Nigeria’s leading Premier League appearance-maker ahead of Shola Ameobi’s 298.
He can move clear of Salah into outright second place when Fulham travel to Aston Villa in their next Premier League fixture.
The milestone came on a good day for Fulham as Oscar Bobb’s 80th-minute strike was the difference as Alvaro Arbeloa’s side claimed back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.

Bobb weaved past a defender in a crowded box before firing into the bottom corner.
Iwobi started on the left wing and played 73 minutes before being replaced by Cesar Palacios.
Despite not scoring, he was influential — registering 60 touches, 51 passes with 86.3% accuracy, two key passes and three crosses, plus one shot that was blocked from close range after Josh King’s effort had hit the bar.
Calvin Bassey also started for Fulham and helped keep a clean sheet, while Coventry introduced Super Eagles stars Frank Onyeka and Taiwo Awoniyi as second-half substitutes in Frank Lampard’s side.
The result lifts Fulham to 13th on the table with eight points from eight games.
