Davido, Rema, Fally Ipupa to headline Afro Nation Portugal 2027

Nigerian music stars Davido and Rema, alongside Congolese singer Fally Ipupa, will headline the seventh edition of Afro Nation Portugal in June 2027.

The organisers announced the first wave of performers on Wednesday, confirming the three artistes as the festival’s main headliners.

Omah Lay, Victony, Shenseea, Valiant, Rayvanny, Odeal, Bamby and Miimii KDS are also among the artistes announced for the festival, while Congolese-French singer GIMS will appear as a special guest.

Afro Nation Portugal 2027 is scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 June at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal.

The festival will also feature an opening party on June 8 and a closing party on 12 June.

Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa have all previously performed at Afro Nation Portugal, with the organisers describing them as “three giants of African music”.

The Piano People Stage, dedicated to amapiano, will feature Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, Young Stunna and Zee Nxumalo.

The Afrotronic Stage will feature Caiiro, Djeff, Jamiie, Aniko and JNR SA.

More artistes are expected to be announced in subsequent lineup releases.

Afro Nation Portugal debuted in Portimão in 2019 and has since become a major international festival celebrating Afrobeats, amapiano and African music and culture.

The 2027 edition will take place earlier than recent editions, which have generally been held in July. According to the festival’s official website, the event remains an 18+ festival, with attendees required to present valid photo identification.

Nigeria’s representation

The announcement continues the festival’s strong representation of Nigerian music, following previous appearances by major Nigerian artistes including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Asake.

Nigerian artistes have been a major part of Afro Nation Portugal since the festival’s launch in 2019, with several Afrobeats stars regularly occupying headline and top-billed slots.

Burna Boy has headlined multiple editions, including the inaugural 2019 festival, as well as the 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026 editions.

Davido has also been a consistent presence, headlining or appearing prominently at the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions. He will return as one of the headliners for the 2027 edition.

Wizkid has featured prominently at the festival, including the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2026 editions.

Asake headlined the festival in 2024 and returned as a headliner in 2026, while Rema headlined the 2024 edition and will return as a 2027 headliner.

Tems also headlined Afro Nation Portugal in 2025, adding to the festival’s growing representation of leading Nigerian female artistes.

Beyond the headline acts, several other Nigerian artistes have performed at Afro Nation Portugal over the years, including Omah Lay, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Victony, Qing Madi, Shallipopi and P-Square.

The 2027 first-wave announcement continues that Nigerian presence, with Davido and Rema confirmed as headliners and Omah Lay and Victony among the supporting acts announced so far.
