SASSA reminder: Children’s Grant payment dates for October 2026

SASSA will pay all Children’s Grants on Tuesday, 6 October. This includes the Child Support Grant, the Foster Child Grant and the Care Dependency Grant. The payment comes after the Older Persons Grant on 2 October and the Disability Grant on 5 October. SASSA confirmed the date as part of its payment schedule for the 2026/2027 financial year.

Caregivers who bank their grants will see the money reflect on the scheduled date. Those who use SASSA payment cards can withdraw at ATMs and retail pay points. Children’s Grants go out last because they have the largest number of recipients. Paying them after the other groups spreads the load across banks and pay points.

What to do if the payment is late

SASSA has set Wednesday, 7 October as the exceptions date for all grant types. This date covers caregivers whose payments failed on 6 October, including those whose grants are under review. Caregivers who don’t see their money on the scheduled day should wait for the exceptions date before visiting a SASSA office.

Staying on top of your child’s grant

SASSA urges caregivers to keep their contact details and banking information current so they receive notifications about reviews and changes. Caregivers who receive a review notice should attend with the required documents. These include the child’s birth certificate and proof of the caregiver’s identity.

Caregivers should also remember that the Child Support Grant stops when a child turns 18. Foster Child Grants depend on a valid court order, so foster parents should make sure the order is renewed before it expires. Caregivers should ignore unofficial messages that promise extra payments or ask for personal banking details.
