Asian Games 2026, Men’s Cricket: Pakistan through to semifinals after washout against Hong Kong

Pakistan became the first team to progress to the men’s cricket semifinals in the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 in Japan on Monday.
The team, led by Sahibzada Farhan, advanced to the last-four stage by virtue of being the higher seeded side after its quarterfinal against Hong Kong, China, was abandoned without a single ball being bowled at the Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin due to rain.
Pakistan was supposed to start its campaign directly from the quarterfinals while Hong Kong had to come through a preliminary round in which finished second in a group that had Malaysia and Oman. It will now face either Bangladesh or Malaysia in the semifinals.
If the weather remained the same on Monday, it could also mean a washout in the second quarterfinal between India and Afghanistan were the Men in Blue are the reigning champions and seeded higher.
