A shooting in KwaZulu-Natal has claimed the lives of 11 people, and three others have been injured.

Ten people were killed in a KwaZulu-Natal shooting and an 11th died in hospital.

According to the police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, three others were injured during the shooting in Ziko, KwaMakhutha, on Tuesday night.

“Information available at this stage suggests that 13 men and one woman, who is believed to be pregnant, were reportedly having a party inside a house when three men arrived and opened fire on them. Ten victims, including the woman, died at the scene, and four were taken to the hospital, one of whom succumbed to gunshot injuries,” he said.

Netshiunda said preliminary investigations revealed that some of the victims were on Crime Intelligence’s radar in connection with illegal activities.

The motive for the shooting is not known, but police have not ruled out a feud between rival groupings.
