On the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary of La Naval de Manila, thousands of devotees packed the streets of Quezon City on Sunday for the grand procession.

The procession route follows a loop from Sto. Domingo Church along Quezon Avenue.

In a report by Luisito Santos of Super Radyo dzBB, nearly 11,000 people were gathered around the church as of 3 p.m., according to the Quezon City Police District.

A total of 27 religious images were included in the annual procession, culminating with the carrosa of Our Lady of La Naval.

Eucharistic celebrations at the Sto. Domingo church were scheduled at 6 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.

The Misa Mayor for the La Naval feast was presided over by Cubao Bishop Elias Ayuban Jr. held at Santo Domingo Church.

During the afternoon High Mass, Santo Domingo Church experienced a power outage, which interrupted the church’s livestreaming of the 2:30 p.m. mass.

Despite the sudden power loss, devotees on-site continued their worship, as reported by The Varsitarian.

Our Lady of the Rosary La Naval de Manila is a venerated Marian image enshrined at the Sto. Domingo Church, located along the busy thoroughfare of Quezon Avenue in the heart of Quezon City.

The feast of La Naval de Manila is celebrated every second Sunday of October, the month the Catholic Church has dedicated as the Month of the Rosary to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Named a National Cultural Treasure in 2012, La Naval de Manila has been an image of enduring faith, maritime protection, and the country’s colonial history. — BAP, GMA News
