Senator-judge Kiko Pangilinan thumbed down remarks made by the impeachment court spokesperson that there may be a verdict out by December 16, saying that they have had no talks of such a timeline.

Impeachment spokesperson Regie Tongol previously estimated that the court may reach a verdict by December 16 after both sides have made their presentations.

“The Impeachment Court has yet to formally or informally discuss this and has yet to decide on the timetable/timeline of the trial more so a verdict date of December 16,” Pangilinan said in a Facebook post.

“This verdict date is merely the opinion of the spokesperson. As Senator Judge, I do not share the opinion of the spokesperson. He has no authority to issue his personal opinions on the Court’s behalf,” he added

Tongol originally estimated that the prosecution could wrap up their presentation by next week.

Last week, the impeachment court suspended one trial day for a strategic pause. Another day was cut short after presiding officer Francis "Chiz" Escudero moved the testimony of the Anti-Money Laundering Council witness to Monday.

However, Tongol explained that a whole day trial counted for two sessions, the proceedings not falling behind.
