The management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, has approved the promotion of 208 members of staff.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Foyeke Ibimilua, said the institution was committed to staff welfare, career progression and professional development. She assured workers that their concerns remained the institution’s priority.

According to a statement signed by the university spokesperson, Temitope Akinbisoye, and made available in Ikere-Ekiti on Saturday, the DVC spoke while addressing members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of the university on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Babatunde Omojola.

The engagement followed a peaceful march by NASU members to the Wole Olanipekun Senate Building within the university to express their concerns over outstanding entitlements and other welfare-related issues.

Speaking at the engagement, which reflected management’s preference for constructive dialogue and sustained consultation as practical pathways to resolving concerns in the interest of progress, Ibimilua reaffirmed BOUESTI’s commitment to staff welfare, open communication and sustained industrial harmony.

The DVC, who acknowledged the demands presented by the union, said, “Management is making concerted efforts to address the issues within the administrative and financial capacity of the institution.

“The university management remains committed to fostering a peaceful and productive working environment where dialogue, mutual understanding and mutual respect will continue to guide its relationship with staff unions.”

Ibimilua, who also recognised the invaluable contributions of non-academic staff to the university’s growth, stability and overall pursuit of academic excellence, assured them that management would continue to engage constructively with the unions towards resolving areas of concern.

She reiterated the university’s determination to sustain its cordial relationship with all recognised unions on campus, noting that industrial harmony remained essential to the uninterrupted delivery of the university’s academic and administrative responsibilities.

She said, “The university management recently approved the promotion of 208 members of staff. This reinforces management’s commitment to staff welfare, career progression and professional development.”

Earlier, the NASU Chairman, Ayotunde Ojo, appealed to management to expedite action on the payment of outstanding staff entitlements, stressing the need to address the issues raised to forestall any possible industrial crisis.
