Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said more than 20 Indonesian companies had confirmed their participation in the INA-LAC Business Mission in Santiago, Chile, on October 1-2.

The companies represent various sectors, including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, wellness, personal care, furniture, energy and automotive.

“So far, more than 20 Indonesian companies from various sectors have confirmed their participation,” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson II Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela told ANTARA on Friday.

Businesspeople and business associations from Latin America and the Caribbean will also attend the event, he added.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes the number of participants, particularly from the mining and energy sectors, will continue to increase,” Mulachela said.

The spokesperson said INA-LAC is a flagship program of the Foreign Ministry’s Directorate General for American and European Affairs, supporting Indonesia’s economic diplomacy by facilitating trade and investment cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The INA-LAC Business Forum has been held since 2019. This year’s INA-LAC Business Mission will take place at the Sociedad de Fomento Fabril (SOFOFA) headquarters in Santiago.

Mulachela said Chile was selected because it is one of Latin America’s financial and business hubs, with several multinational companies maintaining regional headquarters there.

“Chile has also entered into more than 60 free trade agreements covering major markets around the world, including the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA),” he said.

During the two-day event, participants are scheduled to visit several Chilean companies in their respective sectors and meet with local regulatory agencies.

The activities will also include business presentations, business pitching, business matching, the INA-LAC Energy and Mining Business Forum, and a diplomatic reception.
