The Edo State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into an alleged attack on an entertainer, Osagie Idieda, popularly known as MC Porcupine, by hoodlums in Benin City.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, on Saturday, confirming that the incident occurred while Idieda was returning from a party in Benin City.

The state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify those involved, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice,” the statement said.

The command assured the public that the incident would be treated seriously and that efforts would be made to ensure justice.

“The command assures members of the public that the incident will be treated with the seriousness it deserves and that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law,” it added.

Daaor condemned the attack and urged residents to shun violence and embrace peaceful conduct.

“CP Daaor strongly condemns all forms of violence, assault, and unlawful attacks. He urges residents to embrace peace, mutual respect, and lawful conduct, stressing that acts of violence against persons or property will not be tolerated in Edo State,” the statement read.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order across the state.
