11 injured as worker transport truck overturns in Chonburi

CHONBURI — 22 September 2026, Eleven people were injured, including some seriously, after a six-wheel truck carrying workers overturned on the inbound side of Route 36 in Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district.

The accident occurred near kilometer marker 3+600 in Moo 3, Nong Pla Lai subdistrict, on the Krating Lai-Rayong route toward Pattaya.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya responded with ambulances, rescue equipment and volunteers after receiving reports of the crash. Police from Bang Lamung Police Station and medical teams from Pattaya Patamakul Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and Pattaya City Hospital also assisted at the scene.

The truck, registered in Maha Sarakham province, was found overturned on the left roadside shoulder.

Rescuers found 11 injured people, nine men and two women, with injuries ranging from minor to serious. They provided first aid before taking the injured to Pattaya Patamakul Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and Pattaya City Hospital for treatment.

The driver, 56-year-old Chaiya Mayotha, told authorities that he had been transporting workers from Rayong province to a company in Si Racha district, Chonburi.

He said he was driving in the middle lane when the truck reached the accident spot, where the road was slippery. The vehicle began to lose control toward the right, while a pickup truck was traveling in the right lane.

Chaiya said he turned the steering wheel back to the left to avoid hitting the pickup truck, causing the truck to lose control and overturn off the road.

Bang Lamung police inspected the scene and documented evidence. Officers are expected to question the driver, injured passengers and other people involved to determine the exact cause of the crash and take further legal action.
