The Weekender

The race for the Glitterball Trophy intensified on Saturday night as Strictly Come Dancing returned for its second live show and the first public vote of the series.

The 15 celebrity contestants took to the ballroom for Movie Week, performing routines inspired by some of cinema's biggest hits before finding out where they stood on the leaderboard ahead of Sunday's results show.

Topping the leaderboard was dog trainer Graeme Hall and professional partner Lauren Oakley, who scored 31 points for their Waltz. Judges awarded the couple 8, 8, 8 and 7, giving them the highest score of the night.

Close behind were Australian singer Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington, whose American Smooth earned 30 points.
