Kris Aquino open to entering politics, but…

Kris Aquino said she would consider pursuing public service if she were healthy, particularly through the Department of Health (DOH) where she hopes to make medicines more affordable and accessible.

Kris spoke about this during her television reunion with her close friend and longtime co-host Boy Abunda, as seen on the episode of the latter’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The show host asked, “Given the chance and at sa awa ng Diyos na ika’y maging healthy, papasukin mo ang politika?”

“Yes,” the Queen of All Media immediately answered, although she noted, “But I’m not healthy.”

Kris shared that it was the path her late father, former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquiño Jr., had always thought she would pursue.

“But we need a miracle, you know. Hindi ibibigay lahat,” she added.

“But ako, if ever, sana ma-appoint ako ng kung sino man ang mahahalal na maging DOH, kasi sa experience ko,” she said. “And alam nilang hindi ako magnanakaw. ‘Yung mapababa lang ang cost ng gamot ang laking bagay na.”

“And maybe by not taxing the importation of medicine so high, we can already make it so affordable,” she continued.

During the interview, Kris also talked about her costly treatments and medications for her autoimmune diseases.

“Mahal na mahal siya. And I have to thank my siblings because it’s been a family thing,” she disclosed. “And I was so proud na nung September, may mga endorsements na pumasok. So I said, ‘You only have to share 1/3 na lang kasi 2/3 kaya ko na.'”

She further revealed that the property she and her sons are currently leasing belongs to actress Anne Curtis, who gave them a “ninang price” for the lease as Bimby is her godchild.

“Maswerte kami talaga in that aspect, kasi we need to be within 30 minutes of a tertiary hospital,” she added.
