NPFL: Sporting Lagos Thrash Inter In Derby, Barau FC Stay Unbeaten

Sporting Lagos thrashed Inter Lagos 3-0 in a local derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.

Sodiq Ayoade opened the scoring for Sporting Lagos in the seventh minute before Aliyu Baba doubled the advantage after the break.

Valentine Ogwu completed the rout with the third goal as Sporting Lagos secured a convincing derby victory.

At the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, Barau FC maintained their unbeaten run with a 3-1 victory over Ranchers Bees.

Ahmadu Liman put the hosts ahead a minute before the half-hour mark, but Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu restored parity for Ranchers Bees with 10 minutes remaining.

It was Zulkifilu’s fourth goal of the season.

Kennedy Otunuya and Sugau Aliyu then struck late to seal maximum points for Barau FC.

In Aba, Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Emeka Obioma scored twice for Abia Warriors, while Ilechukwu Junior and Akorede Adeoye were on target for Ikorodu City.

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance and Kun Khalifat FC produced a six-goal thriller at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead through Alex Oweilayefa, Suraju Lawal and Chinedu Nwosu.

Kun Khalifat reduced the deficit in the 68th minute when Uchechukwu Onuoha converted from the penalty spot, but Nwosu restored Insurance’s three-goal advantage three minutes later.

Oghenetega Ebetomame pulled another goal back for the visitors five minutes from full time, but Bendel Insurance held on to claim the victory.

Kwara United claimed a 3-0 victory over Katsina United in Ilorin.

Ali Ferinayo put Kwara United in front in the 32nd minute.

The Harmony Boys scored two more goals in the second half through Tosin Olawale, and Issa Gata.
