Paul Walker's brother doesn't want to be involved with final Fast & Furious movie

Fast & Furious star Paul Walker died in a tragic car accident in 2013, while on a break from filming Furious 7. His brothers Cody and Caleb helped complete the movie at the time by standing in for him in his role as Brian O'Conner.

The pair, and actor John Brotherton, stepped in as body doubles for Paul, alongside the use of special visual effects. The team was able to give Brian an emotional on-screen farewell, as he drove off into the sunset with his young family.

Since then, the beloved character has been referenced throughout the subsequent movies, though he hasn't appeared again. However, as the franchise approaches its final instalment, Vin Diesel has confirmed that Brian will return in some capacity for Fast Forever.

Speaking about the possibility of Brian's comeback, Cody Walker shared that he's "not interested" in reprising his brother's role. He said that the decision will be down to Paul's daughter Meadow, but that he's happy with Brian's exit storyline.

"My stance is, it's what Meadow wants to see done; it's her father," Cody told Entertainment Weekly. "I would not be interested in doing that again."

"I love the way his character exited the franchise. They didn't kill him off, they didn't do something cheesy like that. It's beautiful, [Brian] is off raising his kids.

He continued: "But if they want to do that, if Meadow would like to see that, they don't need me or Caleb. AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that. There's years of footage that was never used from these other Fast films. They're the best in the business, they can figure that out."

Should Diesel's plan to reunite his character Dominic Toretto with Brian go ahead, Cody admitted to having "no idea what to expect".

"I talked to Vin, and when it comes to this whole process, he gets very ethereal; it's a lot of weight. The guy is incredible, he's extremely gifted, he takes this very seriously," he explained.

"And there's a mountain on Vin’s shoulders. He wants this to be the best one and as good as it can be because it's the final [one]."

Fast Forever is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 17 March 2028.
