There are 2,000 remaining, and we will get to every last one of them," Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, head of the IDF's Military Intelligence, said during a security cabinet meeting, sources told the Post.

Of the 6,000 people who crossed the border from Gaza and infiltrated Israel on October 7, 4,000 have been killed, an Israeli source told The Jerusalem Post on Monday, citing data shared by Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, head of the IDF's Military Intelligence, during a security cabinet meeting.

"There are 2,000 remaining, and we will get to every last one of them," Binder said.

In the latest strike on Sunday, the IDF announced that it had killed Saqr Nabil Musa Qaisi, a Nukhba terrorist from Hamas who was posing as the director of a humanitarian aid organization called Deniz Feneri.

Earlier on Friday, the military killed Ibrahim Mustafa Suleiman Abu Oweimer, a Nukhba platoon commander in Hamas’ military wing and one of the terrorists who infiltrated Israel on October 7.

During the weekend, the military killed two Islamic Jihad rocket array commanders and reportedly attempted to kill Ali al-Amoudi, Yahya Sinwar’s successor as Hamas’s leader in the Gaza Strip.

There was no confirmation by the IDF that Amoudi was killed in the strike, with conflicting reports in Israeli media about his status.

The Post learned in July that the military had killed at least 420 Hamas terrorists since the 2025 ceasefire was established, while it has continued to target Hamas commanders ever since.

According to these estimates, from October 2025 til July 2026, Hamas reportedly has killed dozens or more of its own population since the ceasefire in order to retake control of all areas of the Gaza Strip where the Palestinian population lives.

UN estimates that around 1,000 Gazans have been killed during this time, meaning that, since the ceasefire, the percentage of Gazans killed by the IDF has likely been less than 50% civilians.

Defense Ministry says 1,318 Israeli security personnel killed since October 7

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas War on October 7, 2023, 1,318 members of Israel's security forces have fallen in the conflict, according to data published by the Families, Commemoration, and Heritage Department of the Defense Ministry on Sunday.

The number includes fallen personnel from the IDF, Israel Police, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Fire and Rescue Services, security coordinators, and local response team members.

The numbers account for the fallen across all fronts, including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and the West Bank.

More than 7,150 people have been officially recognized as relatives who lost someone in service since the start of the war, including 2,143 bereaved parents, 355 widows, and 880 orphans. 3,772 people lost a sibling in the war.

Despite the ceasefire that took effect in the Gaza Strip on October 10, 2025, a number of Israeli soldiers have been killed in incidents along the Yellow Line that delineates the buffer zone within the strip.
