Camps Bay beach trashed by beach-goers [video]

A clip of a littered Camps Bay beach, left by messy beach-goers, has left Cape Town residents fuming.
This comes amid growing criticism about an influx of rowdy crowds, including a group of matric students.
CAMPS BAY TRASHED BY PARTYING BEACH-GOERS
On social media, a viral video has captured the aftermath of a beach party, which reportedly took place at Camps Bay beach last weekend.
In the clip, the beach is littered with items such as a KFC bucket, plastic bottles, and even an empty ice cream container.
“Camps Bay on a Monday morning”, read the text across the video.
In the comments section, Cape Town residents expressed their anger and frustration.
Ben Botha: “If that’s what’s on the beach, think what’s in the water!”
Anke-Elize Strauss: “Our beautiful beaches are there for everyone to enjoy, a gift from our amazing Creator. But we also have a responsibility to look after them. So much rubbish ends up in our oceans, and it honestly makes me so sad to see how little respect people have for our beautiful country”.
Cheslyn Louw: “There needs to be stricter law enforcement on the beach, especially during the festive season period, and now from matriculants who come to enjoy their last break before final exams”.
CITY LAYS DOWN THE RULES
On social media, many local residents have complained that the rowdy parties at Clifton Beach and Camps Bay violate city bylaws.
According to a City of Cape Town document, beach-goers must refrain from the following…

- Holding, convening, or organising any entertainment, display, performance, procession, public meeting, recreation, or event without the permission of the City or doing so in contravention of any condition attached to any such authorisation
- Acting in a manner that poses a risk to life, human well-being or property;
- Behaving in an improper, indecent, unruly, violent, or anti-social manner or causing a
- disturbance;
- Performing an indecent act.
