2 ex-drug convicts busted anew in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY—Policemen arrested two drug convicts who yielded more than P159,000 worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) in separate buy-bust operations in Lucena City on Saturday, Oct. 10.

A member of the city police drug enforcement unit, posing as a drug user, arrested a 31-year-old suspect at 1:03 p.m. after he allegedly sold the operative a pack of shabu in Barangay Ibabang Iyam, Lucena City police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Hernandez said in a report on Sunday.

The operative seized three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu worth P77,520 from the suspect.

At 7:40 p.m., another anti-illegal drug operative arrested a 28-year-old driver in a sting operation in Barangay 8.

The suspect was allegedly carrying two sachets of shabu worth P81,600.

Police said both suspects had previously been convicted of drug offenses but were released through plea bargaining agreements.

The suspects are back in jail and face charges for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /mcm
