Iheanacho Relishes Bursaspor’s Win At Title Rivals Batman Petrolspor

Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his delight after helping Bursaspor secure a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Batman Petrolspor, Completesports.com reports.

The Green Crocodiles came from behind to defeat their hosts in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday night.

Doria gave Batman Petrolspor the lead in the 29th minute before Iheanacho restored parity from the penalty spot shortly after the hour mark.

The Nigeria international then completed the comeback five minutes from full time, scoring the decisive goal to hand Bursaspor another crucial victory.

Iheanacho Delighted With Victory

Iheanacho said he and his teammates were pleased to secure maximum points from what proved to be a difficult encounter.

“We are happy, we won today. It was a great victory for us, especially for the people of Bursa who were watching the game,” Iheanacho said during his post-match interaction with the media.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we came out on top and won. We are very happy to return to Bursa with a win.”

Iheanacho has scored 11 goals since joining Bursaspor this summer and has quickly become a fan favourite.

The Nigerian forward said he was disappointed not to see the supporters at the game but felt their presence and support throughout the contest.

“To be fair, we really missed the fans today. Before the warm-up, I was looking to see if they were here. I don’t know why they were not here, but their spirit was with us today,” he said.

“We fought hard in the second half to come back and win the game. Their spirit is with us, and we won for them and the entire people of Bursa, so we are happy.”

The victory strengthened Bursaspor’s position at the top of the standings, giving them a three-point lead after the hard-fought win.

Bursaspor will return to league action on Sunday, October 11, when they host Mardin BB.
