LATEST on ‘early’ November 2026 SASSA Childcare Grants

Roughly 13-million beneficiaries of November 2026 SASSA Childcare Grants have a sliver of good news to enjoy. Basically, due to a previously unforeseen clash with local government elections next week, payment has been moved forward by two days.
Therefore, payments will now take place on Tuesday 3 November 2026, and not Thursday the 4th as originally stipulated. In turn, this reduces the payment gap from 30 days to just 28 days between payouts …
NOVEMBER 2026 SASSA CHILDCARE GRANTS

Sadly, the good news most beneficiaries of November 2026 SASSA Childcare Grants would like to hear about is increases. However, since there were no October top-ups this month, the amounts for the three child-based stipends remains the same:
- Child Support pays R580, up by R20 from R560 back in April 2026.
- Foster Child pays R1 300, up by R50 from R1 250 back in April 2026.
- Care Dependency (Disability for under 18s) pays R2 400 up by R80 from R2 320 back in April 2026.
As ever, one of the biggest hurdles to getting November 2026 SASSA Childcare Grants is registering your child with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). Only after you’ve done this may you start claiming government money. Calculated roughly, all the way to their 18th birthday, a Child Support beneficiary would earn approximately R185 000 (accounting for inflation).
INCOME ELIGIBILITY FOR NOVEMBER 2026 SASSA CHILDCARE GRANTS
Likewise, applicants shouldn’t forget the South African Social Security Agency’s income eligibility requirements. A single caregiver on Child Support can only earn R5 800 per month. While married couples looking after a minor can earn no more than R11 600 per month. Tallied up annually, that is R69 600 (single person) and R139 200 (couple).
Note that there is no asset portion to the means test, like you get with any SASSA Old-Age Grants. Meanwhile, the agency also claims new 90-minute maximum wait time at any SASSA office. It says self-service kiosks with Wi-Fi help clients complete the neccesary eLife and biometric verification in double-quick time … and for free.
