Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has bid an emotional farewell to Washington Spirit after joining fellow National Women’s Soccer League side Boston Legacy.

The 24-year-old moved to Boston Legacy on October 8 in a trade worth $500,000 in transfer threshold funds, with a 20 per cent sell-on clause for Washington Spirit.

Monday posted her farewell on Instagram on Thursday, thanking the club for being part of her professional journey.

“Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the memories mean so much. I’m leaving with a grateful heart, beautiful memories, and a little sadness that words cannot explain,” she wrote.

“Thank you for being part of my journey. Though we may be going our separate ways, you will always have a special place in my heart. All the best, fam, take care and never forget me.”

Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife in March 2025 and quickly became an important attacking option. She made her debut on April 12, 2025, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win over Racing Louisville FC. A week later, she scored her first goal and made her first start in a 1-0 victory over league leaders Orlando Pride.

On September 28, 2025, she scored a hat-trick inside the first 36 minutes in a 4-0 win over Houston Dash, setting a new league record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff. She left with 12 goals and three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
