Three stabbed when weekend marketplace exchange turns violent

An online marketplace exchange ended in violence on Sunday afternoon, leaving a teenage boy and a man in his 20s with critical injuries in hospital.

Police said three males met outside a house in Cobham Street, St Albans as part of a marketplace deal about 1.20pm before a violent argument broke out.

A 17-year-old and a man in his 20s were both taken to hospital with critical injuries from being stabbed, while a 23-year-old man was also hospitalised with serious stabbing injuries.

Brimbank crime investigation unit detectives said they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the violence and no arrests had yet been made.

Police cordoned off the street around a blue Hyundai hatchback and combed the nature strips outside a double-fronted weatherboard house on a corner block yesterday. The car was still there with police tape on its mirror on Sunday night.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said that Advanced Life Support and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance paramedics treated two patients with serious upper body injuries at the scene before transporting them by road ambulance to hospital.
