Fair Sunday weather in Luzon as ‘habagat’ weakens – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected in most parts of Luzon while cloudy skies and rain showers are possible in the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday as the southwest monsoon or “habagat” weakens, according to the state weather bureau. 

In the 5 a.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, weather specialist Obet Badrina said that a tropical depression in Vietnam is pulling the “habagat” away from the country.

“Ngayong araw ay makikita natin na malaking bahagi ng Luzon ay makararanas ng generally fair weather o maliit na posibilidad ng malakas na pag-ulan sa araw na ito ngunit posible pa rin yung localized rain showers and thunderstorms,” Badrina said.

He added that weakened “habagat” will prevail until Tuesday.

He also said that there is a low chance that a tropical cyclone will be formed inside the country within the next two to three days. 

The western section of Mindanao, where the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections will be held on Monday, will see generally fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms, Badrina reported.

Senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women can cast their votes during the early voting period (5 a.m. to 7 a.m.) while the regular voting hours will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
