India beat Nepal 48-24 in the women’s kabaddi semifinal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Friday to enter the gold-medal match.
The Pushpa Rana-led team will face the winner of the other semifinal between Iran and Chinese Taipei.
Pooja, Sanju Devi and Sonali Singhate led India’s raiding effort, but its defence was breached repeatedly, with Nepal’s Ganga Ghimire proving the chief tormentor. Ghimire also produced a Super Raid in the first half. India, however, held firm and took a 14-point lead into the break.
Ghimire and Rabina Chaudhary continued to trouble the Indian defence after the interval, but their efforts could not match the impact of India’s raiders. India inflicted three All Outs during the contest to pull away and secure a comfortable victory.
Next up, the Indian men’s team will face Thailand in its semifinal. The Sunil Kumar-led side will be aiming to reach the final for a ninth time.
