An Ariel council member and former MK physically attacked a municipality employee during a city council meeting on Thursday evening.

The council member, Oren Hazan, was reportedly attempting to disrupt the meeting when he engaged in the altercation.

The municipality employee required medical attention following Hazan's attack, and the police were notified.

Ariel mayor says Hazan 'disgraces' council

"A red line was crossed today. We cannot allow this bullying to continue," Ariel Mayor Yair Chetboun said in the wake of the incident.

"I am ashamed that a council meeting looks like this - that public representatives behave this way. Time and again, Oren Hazan disgraces us. Council meetings are not a reality show," Chetboun added.

Chetboun also said that he would demand that the Interior Ministry suspend Ariel council meetings until the matter concerning Hazan was settled.

Hazan has previously been indicted for attacking Ariel officials, including in a 2014 incident when he allegedly attacked the city council chairman and the mayor over a lien placed on his mother's bank account for an unpaid debt.
