Comelec disqualifies Moro Ako Party with finality from 2026 BARMM polls

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ruled with finality on the disqualification of the Moro Ako Party from the Major Regional Parliamentary Political Party (RPPP) roster for the upcoming BARMM parliamentary elections.

In a Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment dated September 7, 2026, the Commission said it did not receive a motion for reconsideration on the en banc ruling that affirmed Moro Ako's disqualification.

The motion could have been filed within five days of the party's receipt of the August 27 resolution of the Commission en Banc, with the intent to preclude the order from being final and executory, according to the document which was made public on Saturday.

In the August 27 ruling, the Commission En Banc affirmed its decision to deny the appeal of Moro Ako Party for "lack of merit."

The poll body dismissed Moro Ako's appeal regarding the cancellation of its registration and accreditation as an RPPP after the party failed to satisfy registration requirements and allegedly committed material misrepresentation.

Under Comelec Resolution 11271, the cancellation of Moro Ako Party's registration and accreditation is considered final and executory.

"Its accreditation as a Major RPPP is deemed revoked, and all entitlements, privileges, and preferences granted to it, including the allotment of the 12th copy of the election returns and the privilege to appoint watchers, are hereby withdrawn," it added.

According to Comelec, only eight major RPPPs remain accredited for the upcoming September 14, 2026 BARMM polls:

• Bangsamoro Party (BAPA)
• Bangsamoro Empowerment and Social Transformation Party
• Mahardika Party (MP)
• Partido Bangon Bangsamoro (PBB)
• BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC)
• Indigenous, Settlers, SAMA and Minorities Alliance (ISAMA) PARTY
• People's Consultative (MUSHAWARA) Party
• AL-ITTIHAD-Ungaya sa Kagawib Nu Bangsamoro (AL ITTIHAD-UKB)

Also among the accredited parties are the United Bangsamoro Justice Party as the Dominant Majority RPPP and the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) as the Dominant Minority RPPP. — VDV, GMA News
