In short:

The AFL has announced a date and time for the 2027 State of Origin match between Western Australia and South Australia.

The two states will meet at Perth Stadium on Saturday, February 27, with the match beginning at 4:40pm, local time.

WA and SA have not faced each other in a State of Origin since 1998, and the fixture coincides with the 150th anniversary of the SANFL competition.

The AFL has set the date for next year's State of Origin clash between Western Australia and South Australia.

The two states will clash at Perth Stadium on Saturday, February 27, marking South Australia's first Origin appearance in 28 years.

The match will begin at 4:40pm local time in Perth (7:10pm ACDT, 7:40pm AEDT).

"We are thrilled to officially confirm a date for AFL Origin in 2027, with Western Australia and South Australia set to reignite one of football’s greatest rivalries next February," AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said.

"[Perth] Stadium provided an incredible stage for AFL Origin's return earlier this year and we look forward to continuing to build on that momentum as we prepare for a meeting of two proud football states in Perth.

"We know football fans around the country will embrace the opportunity to celebrate the history, rivalry and unique spectacle that is AFL Origin."

WA and SA have not faced each other in a State of Origin since 1998, and the fixture coincides with the 150th anniversary of the SANFL competition.

State of Origin returned in 2026, with Victoria defeating WA by 36 points in Perth.

SA replaces Victoria for the 2027 edition, but the two old rivals will meet in 2028.
