Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto issued a strong reassurance to the global business community, declaring that safeguarding domestic and foreign investments in Indonesia is a matter of "national honor.”

Speaking at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in Central Halmahera District, North Maluku Province, on Thursday, the president stressed that maintaining strong partnerships with investors is essential to building long-term national prosperity.

"I hereby reaffirm the commitment of the Indonesian government to respect and safeguard all investments—from wherever they originate—made on Indonesian soil,” Prabowo stated during a speech broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

According to the Head of State, honoring commitments to economic partners who have placed their trust in Indonesia is a matter of national integrity and pride.

"It is a matter of honor for Indonesia to look after our partners," he emphasized, referring to investors collaborating to develop industrial regions across the archipelago as brothers.

The statement was made during a ceremony launching a major downstreaming program valued at US$10.2 billion.

The milestone event included the inaugural export of locally manufactured electric vehicle (EV) batteries, alongside the commercial rollout of four industrial projects and groundbreakings for seven new facilities within the IWIP estate.

Citing reports from the Investment and Downstreaming Ministry, President Prabowo noted that total realized investment at the IWIP complex has reached approximately US$20 billion, with plans for an additional US$7 billion in future capital commitments.

The expansion of the industrial hub in Central Halmahera has created employment opportunities for more than 100,000 workers.

Welcoming the ongoing collaboration between local and international corporate entities, the President expressed hope that these partnerships would deliver mutual benefits and deepen bilateral ties with partner nations.

"Thank you for your partnership and trust. May our partnership and friendship bring our two nations even closer together and yield increasing benefits for our respective peoples," Prabowo added.
