KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — A fire destroyed four factories at Jalan TPP 5/15, Puchong Industrial Park, today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 6.34am.

He said the fire affected a total area measuring 80 by 100 feet, involving four premises comprising a tyre factory, a hardware factory for pipes and valves, a furniture factory and an engineering factory.

“The fire was brought under control at 8.30am, while firefighting operations on the roofs and inside the factories are still underway. There is still a risk of the roofs and structures collapsing, but the spread of the fire remains under control,” he said in a statement.

Ashrul Riezal said the firefighting operation involved 33 personnel and 12 fire engines from the Puchong, Subang Jaya, Penchala, Petaling Jaya, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya stations.

He added that the cause and damage had yet to be determined. — Bernama
