Three individuals posing as parking attendants were arrested for allegedly collecting excessive parking fees from motorists in Malate, Manila.

In a social media post on Sunday, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said the Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team tracked down the suspects outside the Rizal Memorial Stadium along Adriatico Street in Malate.

Moreno said the suspects failed to present identification when asked to prove they were legitimate attendants of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB).

He urged motorists to remain vigilant against such schemes, warning that the city government would not tolerate the illegal collection of parking fees.

“Sa mga motorista, huwag po tayong basta-basta maniniwala sa mga tolongges na nagpapanggap na parking attendant. Hindi po natin palalampasin ang ganitong pananamantala!” Moreno said.

(To motorists, let us not easily trust these tricksters posing as parking attendants. We will not tolerate this kind of exploitation!)

Moreno urged the public to report suspicious parking fee collections to the Bilis Kilos Action Center or through the city government's social media accounts.—MCG, GMA News
