Thomas Tuchel explains why Cole Palmer’s can't break into England team

Translate

Thomas Tuchel has explained why Cole Palmer's repeated injury absences have made it difficult for the Chelsea star to establish himself fully in the England setup.

Palmer has been forced to miss several England camps because of injuries, limiting the opportunities he has had to work consistently with Tuchel and his teammates.
Speaking about Palmer, Tuchel acknowledged that the situation is not the player’s fault but stressed the importance of being available during international camps.

“Cole Palmer misses too many opportunities, and he misses way too many camps with injuries. It’s not his fault.”

Tuchel added that his assessment of players is based largely on what he sees during England camps.

“I can only judge what I witness in my team. For that, you have to be in camp. If you are not in camp, there is a next level you cannot achieve unless you do it in my team.”

The England manager’s comments highlight the importance of availability as Palmer continues to compete for a prominent role in the national team. Palmer has established himself as one of the leading attacking players in English football, but his fitness problems have repeatedly interrupted his involvement with England.

The comments will therefore add further context to Palmer’s England situation as he looks to remain fit and secure a consistent place in Tuchel’s plans. Palmer’s next challenge will be to maintain his fitness and make himself available for England whenever called upon.
