Egypt, France discuss cooperation on technical education

Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif held talks on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevallier to discuss ways of expanding cooperation in technical education and using French expertise to improve programs and prepare students for the labor market.

During the talks, Abdel Latif said that the ministry is working to improve technical education and Applied Technology Schools by linking training more closely to the needs of employers in Egypt and abroad.

The minister affirmed that Egypt wants to work with France to develop technical education programs based on French standards and give students access to internationally recognized qualifications and certificates.

He added that such programs would help graduates improve their employment prospects in local, regional and international markets.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in technical fields including agriculture, hospitality and hotel management, with a focus on preparing skilled workers for these sectors.

Abdel Latif noted that the ministry is seeking more international partnerships and cooperation with the private sector to provide students with practical skills that meet changing economic and employment needs.

Meanwhie, Chevallier expressed France’s readiness to continue cooperation with Egypt in education, particularly in technical education and Applied Technology Schools.

The meeting was attended by senior Education Ministry officials and representatives of the French Embassy, the French Institute in Egypt and the French Development Agency.
