Isabelle Fuhrman Set For Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Heartache’

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Isabelle Fuhrman, of the Orphan franchise, is set to lead Heartache, a dramatic sci-fi thriller from first-time feature filmmaker Beth Fletcher.

Currently shooting in Massachusetts, the film centers on a woman determined to discover love in a near-future world where heartbreak has become lethal, whose search for intimacy becomes increasingly entangled with obsession and control.

A filmmaker whose past work has featured at TIFF, RiverRun and NYC’s Museum of Modern Art, Fletcher told us, “With Heartache, I was excited to create a world in which it’s safer to be alone–to tell the story of what we’ll risk to stay together.”

Screenwriter Mark Ashin added, “Isabelle is giving a performance beyond what I could have hoped for when I first wrote Kara. She brings an energy that is somehow both grounded and charged, and it’s been such a pleasure watching her work.”

Ashin and his Page 8 Pictures are producing Heartache alongside Sionne Elise, Dylan Matlock and JP Ouellette with their production company Circa 1888 (known for the Sundance hit Mass). Casting is by SJ Allocco-St. Germain and Fuhrman serves as executive producer.

The actress will next be seen in Netflix’s The 99ers, a sports drama revolving around the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is slated to premiere in 2027. Best known for the Orphan horror films as well as rowing drama The Novice, for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, she is repped by Luber Roklin, UTA and Jackoway Austen.
